  • To achieve this the shelters are supplied with a door type entrance instead of the normal conning tower and the end covers are modified so that they form one side of a box.
  • With the addition of top and bottom plates, plus two entrance hatches and ladders, an entrance module is created with four shelters radiating along the four cardinal points.
  • The design of the entrance module as been made in unit component form from 4mm plate throughout and of bolted construction. Its entrance hatches, ladders and Armour plated hatch lids are generally to the design and material outlined for the conning tower and they are complete with escape hatches as before.
  • It is a further possible with this type of complex to have an interlinking arrangement so that shelters are accessible from more than one entrance.
  • The door type entrance for the shelter is made from 4mm plate flanged and reinforced with 4mm flats and is fitted to the side panels by a strong hinge arrangement having a continuous hinge pin. On the opposing side are two manually operated locking mechanisms with slide plate catch to prevent obstruction to the door entrance.
  • All hinge pin brackets fitted to the side panels are bolted in place for easy removal, should the door become jammed. The arrangement is fully galvanized and complete with rubber sealing strips, bolts and fiber washers.
