A luxury shelter may need to feel like home for an extended period. Painted skies, landscapes, seascapes, botanical scenes and architectural illusions can give its rooms depth and character, while reflecting what matters to the people who will live there. A mural might recreate the scenery surrounding a family estate, open a corridor onto an imagined garden, or give a bedroom, cinema or recreation space its own distinctive atmosphere.

For Hardened Structures clients, Sascha and Tashi develop each commission in close collaboration with the homeowner and project team, from the initial concept to the finished painting. A commission can begin with a room, a view the client loves, or simply an idea of how they want the space to feel. The artists shape the artwork around the architecture, light and purpose of the room, working alongside architects, interior designers and construction teams where needed.

Their work includes expansive painted sky ceilings at Villaggio Mall in Doha and immersive underwater environments in Cyprus. For private shelters and fortified homes, they bring the same care to creating spaces designed for both protection and everyday life.

Their aim is to help turn a hideaway into a home.
